About

In Honor of Nate.

Nathaniel H. Pickett II, lovingly known as “Nate,” lost his life in November 2015 when he was tragically killed by a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy. He was unarmed and had committed no crime, a fact later confirmed in a court of law. Nate was far more than a statistic—he was a beloved son and brother, and a proud former student of Hampton University. Those who knew him remember his honesty, loyalty, intelligence, humor, athleticism, and his radiant smile that could light up any room. He was deeply loved, and he continues to be loved. His life was cut short unjustly, but his spirit lives on.

In his memory, the Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation (NHP2 Foundation) was founded by his mother, Dominic Archibald. The Foundation transforms grief into purpose by providing hope, resources, and opportunities to others, carrying forward Nate’s legacy of love and light. Its mission is to move from tragedy to triumph, making a meaningful difference in the lives of all, without discrimination.
